Meet Dr.Nurani

 
 


A graduate of the University of Washington, Dr. Rizwan D. Nurani holds a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology. He continued his education at the University of Washington School of Medicine, earning his M.D. with research honors. Subsequently, Doctor Nurani completed an internship with the Deaconess Medical Center Transitional Medicine Program and served as a resident in radiation oncology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he secured the position of Chief Resident.

Dr. Rizwan D. Nurani holds board certification in Radiation Oncology through the American Board of Radiology and licensure to practice medicine in Washington, California and Florida. Active in his professional community, he belongs to the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the CyberKnife Society, the American Brachytherapy Society, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Through these organizations, Dr. Nurani maintains his place on the leading edge of new technologies and therapies, offering his patients the highest possible level of care.


Throughout his career, Dr. Rizwan D. Nurani has published a wide range of chapters, studies, and abstracts. His work has appeared in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology and The Journal of Urology. He has published and presented studies on long term outcomes in patients with high risk prostate cancer, how to treat prostate cancer patients after they have failed their initial therapy, how to improve techniques used in the treatment of prostate cancer and the use of MRI in treatment planning for cancer patients.

Dr. Rizwan D. Nurani has treated patients through the MultiCare Regional Cancer Center in Tacoma, Washington, and the Florida Radiation Oncology Group. His clinical skills include stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy, external beam treatments, image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). He frequently speaks at industry events and meetings, including most recently on the optimal treatment of cancer that has spread to the liver.
